Thin-layer Chromatographic Study on the Serum Lipids in Acute Hemorrhagic Shock Induced Experimentally with Rabbits

Abstract
In an attempt to investigate the effect of experimental hemorrhage and shock the serum lipid contents of rabbits, normal healthy male rabbits of about 2. 0 kg of body weight were randomly selected for their repeated bleeding from the carotid artery under urethane anesthesia. 10. 0 ml of blood was shed per kg of body weight with an interval of one hour until death due to hemorrhagic shock occurs.
Five classes of lipids, esterified cholesterol, free cholesterol, triglycerides, free fatty acids and phospholipids, were analized quantitatively by means of thin layer chromatography on silica gel.
Along with the experiments a study was made one the effects of epinephrine and effortil on their effects to the lipid contents in the serum of rabbits being subjected to experimental hemorrhage when they were injected intramuscularly with an amount of 1: 0 mg/kg. of body weigh respectively in the course of bleeding,
Following conclusions were made,
1, Experimental hemorrhage was accompanied by a slight lipemia in the experimental animals, which . was afterwards ensued by drastical hypolipemia with respect to every class of lipids analized.
2. The marhed reductions in the serum and of every class of lipids were not necessarily. involved in any -specific variation due to repeated hemorrhage and shock.
3. Both epinephrine and effortil displayed a significant activities to bring hyperlipemia with respect" to every class of lipids though they were transient.
4. Both epinephrine and effortil were proved to be effective in restoring blood pressure temporarily.
5. A brief discussion for the above results was made.
